This week the Blogilates 7 Day Ab Challenge has commenced and since it coincides with my ovulation week (meaning I’m bounding in energy and motivation) I have committed to it. I am curious as to whether or not there’ll be a noticeable difference in my body composition after just 7 days. I am doubtful about it, buuuuuut dropping a pound or two of water weight can be noticeable so I suppose it’s at least a small possibility. Regardless of improved appearance, I feel great about myself for consistently working out for 25 minutes several days in a row so there’s that. Usually I only exercise 3-4 times a week (on top of walking a few miles daily).

During this time of self-isolation/social distancing I have been eating mindfully and mostly clean (I did buy jellybeans last week lol) and have noticed a difference in my body. I was feeling crappy about myself a few weeks ago (PMS depression….) so in the middle of the week I decided to treat myself to a sweet snack– yogurt with honey and blueberries– and lay out by the pool.

Side note: while I am home during this pandemic rather than working, I like to maintain a work-like schedule in keeping up with my house and garden so the pool is usually untouched until the weekend.

Anyway, I grabbed my yogurt and got my swim suit on and was pleasantly surprised by my physique. Although I was not where I’d like to be, I could see that I was not as thick as I had remembered myself to be and that was a pleasant surprise!! So I could only assume that my daily consumption of giant lunch salads is what’s making a positive difference.

Now if I combine my healthy eating with my working out, perhaps I can FINALLY shed  ALL of the excess body fat. I haven’t even weighed myself in months (I don’t own a scale) so I have no idea if I have actually lost weight or not. I’ll have to check next time I go to Publix because now I’m curious if anything has changed in the past three months or so.

I think that my takeaway from this challenge will be that consistency is what it takes. That’s something we hear and know, but to experience it is a whole different thing. Hopefully I’ll see a change, get excited about it, and then keep it up.

Here are some of the things I have been eating this week:

Made lamb meatballs and pesto (recipe from Primal Palate) on Monday and served them with almond flour spaghetti. Last night’s dinner was roasted Mediterranean shrimp, courtesy of Green Chef. And then of course there are a few of my lunch salads.
