There’s a new restaurant in Pass-A-Grille Beach. I think it’s the third restaurant that’s been at this location, but I’m thinking this one will actually stick. The restaurant is on the bottom floor, and they have a rooftop bar and I think they also use the space in the second floor of the building. Collectively it’s the Berkely Beach Club and I think the owners also own Mise en Place Restaurant in Tampa, so that alone gives me faith that they’ll succeed in this new spot. My husband and I had dinner at The Dewey on Saturday with his parents. They called it an early birthday celebration for him since they’re going to be up north snow birding during his actual birthday. The restaurant is still in their “exploratory” phase so the menu isn’t permanent. I’m excited to go back and see what else they have to offer. They have fried calamari and I am so glad that we were able to order it without breading!! Obviously the breadcrumbs offers extra crunch and flavor, but the rings are good enough on their own. And the sauce– OMG. So good!
All four of us ended up ordering the same entree– chimichurri grilled hangar steak! I ordered mine medium rare and it was cooked PERFECTLY 😋 It came with garlic mashed yucca, sherry molasses fried plantains, and cumin grilled squash. I love love love grilled squash & zucchini. And what’s super awesome is that two restaurants ago, I used to order the duck breast entree that was served with garlic mashed potatoes and grilled zucchini. So this reminded me of my previous favorite meal.
I loved this meal so much. Also, their cocktails are great. I had several Bees Knees, light on the honey. Here’s one of my final drinks on the rooftop, facing the beach after the storm passed.

It was a gorgeous view but lightning is no joke around here. The next day we found out that it injured several people in Clearwater Beach 😔
Anyway, it’s not easy finding restaurants in St. Pete Beach that are middle priced AND good quality. There are some high-end restaurants, but typically along the beach you’re going to pay a premium for just okay food. We loved the restaurant and look forward to going back.
