I can’t believe I haven’t written about food in half a year! I feel like my mental health concerning food has gotten much better. I no longer think of food as “good and bad.” Food is food. Some food is simply more nutritious than others. I have learned to avoid episodes of binging by not restricting food (unless intentionally embarking on some sort of reset like Whole30, which I’ll probably do again next month). Instead of telling myself to NOT EAT a certain type of food, I have set goals for myself to EAT MORE of a certain type of food– raw leafy greens. Eat lots and lots of them! And if I’m still craving Oreos– I’ll eat them. But maybe only have like 5 and not an entire sleeve lol

This was my breakfast a week ago::

One of my good friends had her wedding Sunday evening so naturally I was up later than usual and drinking more than usual (or at all since I typically abstain from alcohol on work nights). Nothing soothes a rough night like bread and orange juice.

The night before the wedding, my husband and I went out with friends to a Greek restaurant in Gulfport. I ordered the Souvlaki Platter, which is amazing because it contains salad AND french fries. Now that’s balance, am I right?! Kidding! I’m completely convinced that eating fries saturated in toxic seed oils negates the nutrients in the salads but I’ve learned to just enjoy and move on rather than let that bother me.

I also ordered grilled octopus because it’s so freaking delicious.

And finally, here is my current obsession:

Primal Kitchen Foods has come out with a Thousand Island dressing. It is so so so so so good and made with quality ingredients so you are actually nourishing your body rather than offsetting the nutrients of the salad with a dressing full of sub par ingredients. So interesting that Kraft is buying Primal Kitchen Foods and now will benefit from both this quality dressing and their traditional Thousand Island, which uses soybean oil and corn syrup.

Anyway I have been all about saving time lately. Although I do enjoy putting a salad together myself, sometimes it’s just easier to grab a pre-cut bag. It’s definitely a waste of money as I just throw out the dressing that it comes with, since it’s usually canola or soybean oil based. Gotta do what you gotta do!

That is all for now =)
