I LOVE food. For whatever reason (my husband insists it’s an Asian thing…) before eating a delicious meal I always feel compelled to take a picture of what is set before me. Do I fondly look back on those photos and think to myself, “Wow, that was a great meal!” Nope. I never see them again. They just sit on my phone and live on in Google storage. Every so often I’ll post my meal on Instagram with a bazillion hashtags–  #primal #paleo #plantbased #organic #grainfree #grassfed #pastureraised #noaddedsugar #lowcarb #lowglycemic etc…

I was not always in love with food. Yes, I always loved to eat but I think that I became passionate about food after I started following the primal/paleo lifestyle. Once I started to view food as something that fuels my body, as something that gives me heavy control over my health, my passion grew. I was introduced into a whole new world of yummy food!

For years all we’ve heard from the government and mainstream media is that fat is bad. So instead of butter we used margarine. We chose leaner cuts of meat, and if we were eating a ribeye steak we trimmed the fat. We replaced pork bacon with turkey bacon. We used canola oil instead of olive oil. We ate low-fat, high-carb foods. Reading The Primal Blueprint and getting acquainted with Mark’s Daily Apple changed my life! Fat is good!! Grain is bad. Sugar is evil. I eat REAL food and it all tastes SO AMAZING!! I love my new lifestyle. I love everything I eat and how it makes me feel.

Anyway, it drives my husband crazy when I take pictures of my food, or his food every time we sit down to eat. First of all, he wants to dig in while the food is HOT. Second, he isn’t big on social media and thinks it’s a waste of time to post about lives online for all to see. And I agree. I do not update my Facebook status regularly. I mostly post pictures or re-post interesting articles. I think it’s fun. Since I enjoy pictures over status updates, I’m a huge fan of Instagram. I like to post my food photos there, and since I also follow my favorite primal & paleo food blogs there, I also like to view primal food photos for inspiration. I think it would be crazy insane to spam all my followers with every single meal I eat, so I’ve decided to create this blog and post it all here.

Here is my first photo– this afternoon’s lunch.

Usually we go out Sundays for a Greek salad before we do our errands (grocery shopping, home improvement shopping). My husband has tomorrow’s holiday off so today is basically another Saturday for us and we do not need to do boring adult stuff today. He’s going to do all that tomorrow while I’m at work!! So today he baked some chicken thighs to crispy, greasy perfection and made us big-ass salads. YUM!
